Portugese Podengos are a Rare Breed in the US. AKC recognition has begun!
Podengos can currently compete in AKC Performance & Companion Events including Lure Coursing & Obedience.
Once recognition is complete they will be entered into the Hound Group!
Our home is shared with four Podengos, Zaragata deViamonte & Cacau deViamonte and their sons Tumomak's
Horatio de Moyo & Tumomak's Zarrio de Moyo.
Zaragata is quite an active little 7 pound dog. She is the first Podengo Podengo to compete in an ASFA
Lure Coursing Trial. In 2007 she was Ranked by ASFA as the Number 1 Lure Coursing Podengo. Also in 2007 she was
featured as the cover girl on the In the Company of Dogs!
Cacau
loves to run and play everything that his big little sister does. He is always on alert for the next toy or squirrel
to chase!
Podengos are a primitive breed, they first came
to the America's with Christopher Columbus
aboard his sailing vessels.
